Funding for expansion of legal advocacy for children’s educational needs
ST. LOUIS –Bayer Fund has made a one-year grant of $25,000 to Legal Services of Eastern Missouri’s Children’s Legal Alliance to fund important educational advocacy work for low-income children, with an emphasis on serving children enrolled in schools in north St. Louis County.
This generous grant from Bayer Fund will support attorneys who work closely with families who have children at risk of failure in school because of lack of access to special educational needs and/or individual education plans.
Each year, the Children’s Legal Alliance serves more than 200 families with children struggling in school because of lack of access to special educational services. The program also represents children at high risk of suspension and/or unfair discipline and helps educate parents so they can become more effective advocates for their own child’s educational rights.
